Congrats to Kyle Jones for winning the tickets to Noah’s show at the Columbia City Theater. Here’s a little recap from Kyle:
A Family Ordeal
Noah Gundersen’s CD release at Columbia City Theater was a family engagement and the perfect thing to get away from the city grind during Seafair festivities. Sister Abby was on stage playing in both the opening acts as well as with Noah for the whole show. The second opener Le Wrens is comprised on three Gundersen’s including Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Abby, with close friends Kale Lotton and Michael Porter rounding out the band. There twist of folk and country, singer song writer style perfectly prepped the crown for Noah’s set. Le Wrens, although young, played a very polished set with all original music, except for a cover of Johnny Cash’s song, Folsom Prison Blues which really got the crowd going. On to Noah….the twenty two year old never ceases to amazing me. Him and Abby accompanied by his first opener, Zach Fleury, who played percussion throughout the first half of Noah’s set, wowed the crowd with beautiful stories, acoustic awesomeness, and vocals beg you to picture his songs as he sung them. Its hard to pin point the feeling you get when you hear him play but its like you can actually hear what his soul is saying. It was definitively a night to remember and a reason to look forward to the winter when Noah will be releasing a full length album. Thanks to Le Grand Cru for hooking me up with tickets and a free signed CD. And if you haven’t heard Noah Gundersen please check out his bandcamp and facebook pages, listen to his music and catch his next show, you will not regret it.

You know how you sometimes come across something just knowing that it’s going to take off? HandMeUps.org is one of those things. Founder Kurt Narmore has connected with some huge clothing brands and set up a system that “obtains brand new, unused, unworn clothing from radical brands who share a philanthropic interest” in order to give underprivileged kids some fresh gear. He’s also partnered up with the Boys & Girls Club of America and will be doing a 5 city summer tour, bringing some really great guests along for some motivational speaking.
Get used to seeing this logo. They are about to do some big things. And keep an eye out for our next CRU issue for an interview with Mr. Narmore himself.
Their site is brand new, so check it out for more info at www.handmeups.org
So I have been able to get my hands on some tickets for the Clippers vs Thunder game on November 3, 2010 in Los Angeles. Two very exciting players battling it out head-to-head. Blake Griffin is looking like a monster, and hopefully he can stay away from any injury. Kevin Durant was a killer for team USA and continues this season as a force to be reckoned with.

This past Thursday, we took part in the Citizen LA Downtown Art Park. It’s a space for independent vendors to set up shop once a month in downtown Los Angeles. Such a great experience seeing the other booths and how they set up shop. Thanks to everyone that came by the booth and our neighbor vendors for being really great people. Definitely looking forward to doing this again.
A few weeks ago, my brother-in-law asked me to help take part and volunteer in an event called AMPSURF. Now, I know nothing about surfing, but was assured that it was not necessary. I was on the fence because I knew it was going to be early in the cold Central California waters, but finally I committed and was I grateful that I did.
AMPSURF is a non-profit organization dedicated to veterans, adults, and children and helping them concentrate on their abilities rather than their disabilities by taking them out onto the open waters and onto a surfboard. For the last 8 years they have been putting on these surf clinics and just having a great time.
I was in such awe with the strength and determination of every individual and it was amazing to see how well everyone did. I was able to help a lady with only one leg, and she stood completely up and rode a whole wave in!
I know that sometimes we tend to forget how blessed we are and take a lot of things for granted. I encourage everyone to go out there and take part and share your time in events like these. It definitely helps put things in perspective and helps me remember that there a lot of things more important than just myself.
Find out more about AMPSURF by visiting their website at www.ampsurf.org
Thanks Jodie for the pics!

A group of us decided to go out to Huntington Beach, CA to see our friends Switchfoot play. Wish we could have gone every day. Great event, great people, and great music.
Jerome Fontamillas of Switchfoot rocks our gear!!!
Big thanks to Kevin and Joyce for the pics!
This past Saturday Le Grand Cru participated in its first public event. Bro-Am has been going for 6 yrs strong and has partnered with several groups to be active in reaching the needs of homeless youth through an organization called StandUp For Kids. What an incredible event for us to be involved in.
Switchfoot headlined a great line up that included OK GO, The Almost, Young The Giant, and others. There was also a surf competition which included surfers Rob Machado, Tom Curren, and Timmy Curran, and members of Switchfoot. I got a wicked burn, my Seattle skin isn’t used to the Cali sun!
We met amazing people who came to hang & people who were from other brands/outreaches. It was awesome seeing this many people come together to make a difference in this community.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi and to getting to know what Le Grand Cru is all about. We had some incredible help throughout the day, from the early morning setup, helping out at the table, passing out our flyer/stickers, and take down. Thanks for being part of our CRU, couldn’t have done it without ya’ll! We’ll definitely be back next year!
Timmy Curran, Dynamite Walls, Jon Foreman and Friends, OK Go, Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants, The Almost, Kate Voegele and Young the Giant.
Here is a list of the vendors sponsoring this event. We are so honored to be part of such an awesome list and excited that this is our first event of this kind!
